2006

June 16, 2006 George Fraser’s nationally-renowned PowerNetworking Conference held in Atlanta, Georgia features an African panel – a first for the conference. It was the brainchild of Julia Wilson, which she organized and moderated with special panel guests: Ambassador Andrew Young (former ambassador to the United Nations and his video update of Rwanda); Julius Coles (president of Africare); Chief Nana Kwadwo Akpan (Ghana); Timothy Webster (American entrepreneur in South Africa); and Dr. Lawrence E. Jones (Liberian engineer & adjunct professor, University of Washington).

May 24, 2006 Diplomatic Corps’ African Ambassadors Lecture Series sponsored by the Edison Electric Institute spotlights video clips of the "Julia Wilson on the Continent" TV program. Julia Wilson also served as a moderator for the program and introduced the importance of showcasing positive developments in Africa.

May 22, 2006 Department of Energy (DOE), Constituency for Africa (CFA) and the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) forum on electricity needs in Liberia spotlights video clips and the TV special on Liberia from "Julia Wilson on the Continent" in its program during Africa Week at DOE in Washington, D.C.

May 1, 2006 Africare, the largest and oldest African American organization specializing in aid to Africa, honored Congressman Charlie Rangel (D-NY) with Julia Wilson serving as emcee for its Legacy Award Dinner.

Spring Issue The African Journal (published by the Corporate Council on Africa, a 200-member group of U.S. companies doing business in Africa and providing 85% of all private U.S. investments in Africa) includes information on the "Julia Wilson on the Continent" TV program and photo of TV show graphic in a column (pg 8).

April 25, 2006 Cote d’Ivoire Prime Minister Charles Konan Banny and Julia Wilson at the National Press Club with WGC organizing special media coverage of Prime Minister Banny’s Peace Plan for the Ivory Coast featuring CNN and Voice of America interviews.

April 14, 2006 New York radio station agrees to air "The African Minute with Julia Wilson," a 2-5 minute radio segment providing updates on Africa (a radio version of "Julia Wilson on the Continent."  

April 5, 2006 Voice of America (VOA) "Straight Talk" interviews Julia Wilson for a 1-hour broadcast that was aired in 30 countries worldwide. Phone calls from Africa emphasized the growing popularity among international viewers of "Julia Wilson on the Continent" TV program.

Winter Issue Prudence Magazine (a high quality, international African-focused publication) features 2-page center spread on WGC, including a photo of Julia Wilson (pgs 54-55).

March 21, 2006 Liberia President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and Julia Wilson are viewed nationally on C-Span with Wilson moderating at the U.S. Institute of Peace before a live audience.

February 22, 2006 The World Bank hosts screening of "Julia Wilson on the Continent" before a live audience consisting of business, community and government leaders.

February 16, 2006 TV show "Julia Wilson on the Continent" debuts in Europe (Hotbird 6 Satellite), Africa (Canal Plus) and the U.S. (Dish Satellite) and continues airing weekly -- four times every Thursday and Friday in English and each Tuesday in French.

January 16, 2006 "Julia Wilson on the Continent" covers the Liberian presidential inauguration in Monrovia, Liberia and interviews President Ellen-Johnson-Sirleaf.  

December 14, 2006 "Julia Wilson on the Continent" secures exclusive interviews Liberian President-elect Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, Congressman Donald Payne (D-NJ), Steve Hayes, president, Corporate Council on Africa and a representative from the U.S. Department of State for first TV shoot. The Liberian presidential interview was a “TV exclusive”.  

2005

October 30, 2005, 3A Telesud, a Paris-based television channel owned and operated by a group of Cameroonians, commits to air and co-produce "Julia Wilson on the Continent" television program in Europe, Africa and the U.S. (a media concept created by Wilson that features positive developments in Africa.)

October 18, 2005 TechnoServe, a nonprofit organization that provides business support to rural entrepreneurs in Africa and Latin America, holds an event in New York City for which WGC serves as an organizing consultant. TechnoServe’s board of directors and contributors boast an A-list that includes CEO’s from United Airlines and Liz Claiborne, Inc. and the Soros Foundation.

June 21-24, 2005 Corporate Council on Africa’s (CCA) 2005 U.S.-African Business Summit held in Baltimore with 2,000 attendees, six African Heads of State and the president of The World Bank, Paul Wolfowitz participating with WGC serving as the event’s communications firm and media consultant. CCA is comprised of 200 U.S. corporations that provide 85 percent of all U.S. private investment in Africa. WGC also organized the media luncheon for the five African presidents meeting with President George W. Bush on debt relief prior to the G8 Summit in Gleneagles in Scotland.  

January – June, 2005 CCA Summit preparation
